El SOP se caracteriza por alterar los niveles hormonales de la mujer, ya que afecta a los ovarios, \u00f3rganos encargados de la producci\u00f3n de estr\u00f3geno y progesterona, que son las hormonas que regulan el ciclo menstrual.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Este s\u00edndrome o grupo de s\u00edntomas tiene tres condiciones principales:\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quistes en los ovarios, de ah\u00ed el nombre de poliqu\u00edsticos (muchos quistes).\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Altos niveles de hormonas masculinas.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Per\u00edodos irregulares o inexistentes.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Al igual que otros tipos de <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doctoraki.com\/blog\/psicologia\/5-peliculas-para-el-dia-mundial-de-la-lucha-contra-la-depresion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>depresi\u00f3n<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, las personas con distimia pueden experimentar sentimientos de profunda tristeza y desesperanza. Hay quienes ni siquiera se dan cuenta que tienen la afecci\u00f3n hasta que se les dificulta quedar en embarazo o aumentan de peso sin motivo aparente.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No obstante, a continuaci\u00f3n se comparten los signos y s\u00edntomas m\u00e1s comunes del SOP:\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Per\u00edodos irregulares o ausencia de la menstruaci\u00f3n.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Tambi\u00e9n se puede presentar un sangrado abundante durante los per\u00edodos.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Crecimiento excesivo del vello <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">facial o en los brazos, el pecho y el abdomen (hirsutismo).\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Acn\u00e9<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> en la espalda, el pecho y la cara.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Obesidad<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y problemas para mantener un peso saludable.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Oscurecimiento de la piel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">en las axilas, la ingle, los pliegues del cuello y debajo de los senos.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Quistes (fol\u00edculos) en los ovarios<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, que son evidentes al hacerse una ecograf\u00eda.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Poco cabello.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Las personas con SOP pueden perder mechones de cabello o comenzar a quedarse calvas.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Posible<\/span><b> infertilidad<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ya que no se ovula class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La causa exacta del s\u00edndrome de ovario poliqu\u00edstico (SOP) es desconocida, pero se cree que est\u00e1 relacionado con:<\/span><\/p><p><b>Desequilibrio hormonal\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Muchas mujeres con SOP tienen un desequilibrio en ciertas hormonas, por ejemplo, presentan <\/span><b>niveles elevados de testosterona <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(hormona masculina) <\/span><b>o de la hormona luteinizante<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (lo que desencadena una estimulaci\u00f3n anormal de la ovulaci\u00f3n).<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tambi\u00e9n hay casos relacionados con <\/span><b>niveles bajos de globulina <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">transportadora de hormonas sexuales (SHBG), y con <\/span><b>niveles elevados de prolactina <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(hormona que estimula las gl\u00e1ndulas mamarias para producir leche durante el embarazo).<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><b>Gen\u00e9tica\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El s\u00edndrome de ovario poliqu\u00edstico a veces se presenta en familias.
